They played ALL DAY yesterday. It was so great to watch. It reminds me of how much love she has and what a great mom she’ll be someday.
Context:
Getting into Ernie’s truck. It’s raining.
Ernie: Hey. I get to test out my new windshield wipers! (*turns them on*)
All of us: “Woooooooooowwwww.”
Whit: Y’know. Some things in life are just great. Like a good pair of windshield wipers!
So. I have an aunt. Ernie. She’s my godmother and one of my best friends. She’s been there for me throughout my life. Shoot, she even coached my little league baseball team when I was 11. When we moved to Utah, she followed us out. Suffice to say, she’s very important to me.
Well.
Wednesday was her birthday. And, do to other peoples’ work schedules, she was going to spend it alone.
So I gave Whit a call and asked something like, “Hey. Wanna drive an hour away to take Ernie out for her birthday…Only to drive an hour back late in the evening when you have to leave real early the following morning?”
She agreed without hesitation. That means the world to me.
So we went. We had a blast. We ate ice cream cake. We came home late. She left early. But she came with me to Ernie’s anyway.
I love you, Sweetie.
Lately our future together has gotten even more real. And I like it. Call me girly, I don’t care. But I like to imagine my proposal…our wedding…naming our future children. It’s the real good stuff and I can’t wait for it all to really happen.
Whit was tapped on the shoulder by this really cool program that finds people who would make good teachers. AND! It’s in the L.A. area. Seems that God has provided for us to make our way to L.A. That’s where I’ll be going to school for at least a couple of years. The only (and major) problem was how would Whit and I continue a weekend-only relationship even longer? We’ve been at it for almost 4 years already and neither one of us wants to continue. We just want to be together. So. I’ll be praying that this (or something) will work out so that we can get hitched sooner rather than later.
I seriously can’t wait. The excitement keeps me up at least 2 nights a week.
It’s all getting more and more real. Makes the wait all the more difficult to bear.
