So Whit’s wiener dog, Winston, lives among a dog family. The other three have torn all the grass up in their back yard. As a result, Winston has no grass to sleep on. And Whit does NOT like that.

I love her childlike heart and soul, especially for the animals. She loves them without question and treats them like people, and it’s wonderful. 🙂

So. Tonight is Whit’s first back to school event EVER! She’s going to get to meet her students’ parents and show them what they’re up to in class.

I’m so proud of her I love seeing her experience all of these career firsts!

Whit and I had the whole day to hang out. And it was one of the best we’ve had together. We’ve both been so busy. Especially this week — I haven’t spent even an hour with her during the previous six days together.

We love to visit our families on the weekends. But we had stuff to do and just enjoyed running errands, organizing, watching movies, making dinner, and just being companions. I guess I didn’t know how much I missed this.

So Whit got a gig as the first biology teacher at a brand-spankin’-new school. She’s had a couple weeks of teaching classes and I couldn’t be prouder of her!

It’s a real time of growth for her. First of all, her school’s ethnic makeup is totally opposite from her white-bread, Temecula experience. She’s only 9 or 10 years older than her students, which — along with her smallness and hotness — presents its own challenges. Then, for all but a couple of students in her class, Spanish is their at-home language, so communicating with their parents is less-than-straightforward.

Despite all of this, her heart is emboldened and encouraged to teach the CRAP out of those students, and to inspire even the hard-to-reach ones. She’s sick today; she’s been sick all weekend. And she is there, teaching her kiddos despite feeling horrible.

I’m so proud of the teacher that she is. And I can’t WAIT to see the teacher she grows into!!!

PS – She signed her contract last week and is officially a teacher! I could NOT be prouder!!!

So. Over the last week or so Whit has (with a little help from her pa) moved, basically, our WHOLE apartment to our new place. I’ve been working at my desk job while she’s been moving our whole life from one place to another. Every time I come home there’s more stuff there and the place looks more and more like a home and less like a pile of boxes.

I appreciate so much her heart to get the stuff done and her willingness to do so. I hate moving and she’s eased about 99% of my moving duties. I’m very thankful and grateful for her.

First — SO proud of Whit for her new gig. She’ll be teaching biology at a brand-new, never-taught-in, state-of-the-art high school. It’s one of a few dozen in the US, funded by the Gates’s, and looks REALLY promising. She looked and looked and was *sigh* turned down for a number of gigs before landing this one. I can’t wait to see why the Lord had this in store for her!!! 🙂

Also — for her really stepping up and taking care of us. I’ve been working full-time (thank Jesus!) and she’s been ‘out-of-work’ since she graduated last month. During that time, she has done the lion’s share of the ‘household’ type stuff. Not to mention, she’s been going out to find us a new place to live. I appreciate it more than I let her know, I’m sure. And for that, shame on me and honor on her.

Me – How’d YOU sleep?
Whit – Not well
Me – Why not?
Whit – Because when YOU roll over, it is NOT like a sleep-number mattress…

Whit went to the reptile expo yesterday. I LOVE that she loves that stuff. I see her eyes get bright like a curious child. It’s one of my favorite things to see in her!

And — Father’s Day. I’m thankful for mine. I’m thankful for hers. I can’t wait for Whit and I to have (a) little one(s) who is (are) thankful for me 🙂
